In May, 2016, a class action lawsuit took place with Goya Foods, Inc. vs. Luis Diego Zapata Fonseca at the U.S. District Court California Northern District (San Jose), which is a public file you can obtain on the courts website.  Fonseca took Goya Foods Inc. to court for mislabeling their octopus products; Goya Foods Inc. falsely advertised the products by mislabeling their squid as octopus. Of course, squid is much cheaper to sell than octopus, hence the reason for the false advertisement.  Not only was the product mislabeled, but it was more expensive. No consumer should need to deal with lies told by any company about its products. No consumer should be made a fool of and pay double, triple, or even quadruple the price for a product that isn’t the right species!
